Keep Abilities on Cooldown: Unholy is a very burst-focused specialization, which relies incredibly heavily on using its cooldowns as often as possible to maximize its damage. This makes cooldown setup and execution its highest priority.

Spend your Sudden Doom procs ASAP: Sudden Doom has many interactions with Unholy talents, while also being the strongest non-cooldown button we can press in any scenario. This makes spending this proc with Death Coil or Epidemic as quickly as possible one of the best things you can do.

Keep an eye on your Ghouls: Lesser Ghouls are the bread and butter of Unholy Death Knights in Midnight. So, making sure that you always have stacks of Lesser Ghoul from Festering Strike to allow Scourge Strike to summon them is vital.

I think there might be an ability missing from the single target priority; maybe one that generates wounds?

I've got a question regarding the multi target rotation. If I'm standing in my Death and Decay should I just use all my runes on Scourge Strike even if no are on my primary target and only use Festering Strike to apply after Death and Decay expired and is on cd?

Just a note for the author, the link for Apocalypse in this guide is incorrect, it is currently pointing to the Legion Artifact version of the spell: Apocalypse.

The correct link for the Battle for Azeroth base line ability spell is: Apocalypse.

Hi Bicepspump,

First of all thank you for this guide, it is amazing!
One doubt, about "Cleave and AoE Outside of Major Cooldowns (2+ targets)", I'm struggling dsto start the rotation
1 vif your Virulent Plague is about to fall off. Refresh as close to 0 duration left as possible (more about this in the advanced section)
2 Epidemic if you've talented Epidemic and are about to cap Runic Power (80+).

I start with Outbreak and dont have enough Runic Power to use Epidemic yet. how should I proceed? Use Outbreak 3 times? (once you have enough runic power everything goes awesome)

Hello! Amazing guide, I love to read guides that clearly show the person writing has played the class extensively.

Question regarding Racial abilities. I have a Mag'har Orc DK. Their ability Ancestral Call gives you a random secondary stat for 15 secs. and it's outside of the GCD. Ideally, I would like to macro it with another CD and use the slight bump since it doesn't cost me anything (resource or GCD). Which CD would be best to macro it too? Unholy Frenzy?

Can someone explain to me why he has unholy assault as the last ability used in the opener? that doesn't make any sense to me. Given that it gives 4 wounds now, wouldn't it be better to use this rotation instead:
Army before pull
outbreak/blight while running in
Dark transformation
unholy assault (for the 4 wounds)
Apocalypse (to use the 4 wounds
continue normal rotation.
There's less globals in this which means a faster opener. Using two festering strikes and eating up two globals doesn't make any sense if you have UA talented. he needs to re-write that for two separate cases (talent builds), if you have UA or if you have gargoyle, because the opener changes based on these two talents for sure. Another idea is to just set up the thing other class guides have where you can select which talents you have on the rotation page and it will show you the different openers and rotations.

I have read this and re-read it a dozen times, and I still do not comprehend it. Numerous portions of it are contradictory. Would not recommend this guide. No discussion of Open world PvE Solo vs Elites with 5-6 times my HP.

Hi there, love the guide.

So, i main a UH DK and honestly performance isn't great, im constantly out of runes it feels like and im wondering if im just wasting them too often.

I do not understand the wound change tbh, so if we're always trying to keep 3 now, and not popping them, won't that lead to a lot of downtime? i guess i just don't understand exactly how its supposed to work, i feel so sad to keep showing up low in the logs compared to other dks and would appreciate any help. Thanks.

Can you do a rotation summary of the Disease Build for Mythic+? It appears you just include the summary for the Wound Build even though you list both options/trees as viable.

Hi there, I’m complety new. After the opener, then after I have gone into the single target or AOE sequence. What do I repeat after that. Anouther single target/ AOE sequence or do I do the opener again ? Any help thanks. ( your guides have helped me out massively as a new player

Hello, just asking for clarification: The AoE rotation puts epidemic above festering strike and scourge strike. Does that mean I spam epidemic until I have no runic power, then start festering or scourge striking? Same question for Graveyard, and necrotic coil during the single target burst window?

I could be mistaken, but I thought they made it so Soul Reaper doesn't cast your Putrefy stack(s) anymore in s2?

For season 2 with San'Layn, make sure you don't overcap on runic power as it can gives vampiric strike proc which builds up blood queen buff.
